Open the Meeting
· The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m
Minutes of Last Meeting
· The minutes from the last meeting were not reviewed.
Old Business:
· The budget issues from the last meeting were discussed. Brent
has requested more funds from the Village. He will keep us
updated.
· DEC Grant - will meet regarding the status of the grant after our
Spring planting day. Our summer project will be to submit all of
the paperwork.
· NYS DOT Planting - They are planting 33 trees in the village and 22
in the town. The engineer mentioned to Brent and Brenda that
if in the next year or so, someone else along a state route wants a
tree, they are willing to come back and plant a few more. Brenda
and Nancy Guski met with the DOT engineer to finalize the list.
Brenda circulated the Village's Tree Plantings for the NYSDOT Annual
Landscape Development Contract.
New Business:
· Brent distributed a Flyer from NYS Region 3 ReLeaf & Cornell
Cooperative Extension called "Planning for Trees in Urban &
Community Landscapes". This workshop is occurring on
Wednesday April 2, 2008 from 7-9. Jen will be checking her
schedule to see if she can attend on behalf of Village Green.
· The Tree City USA luncheon is being held on Monday, March 31, 2008 in
Albany. Brenda and Evelyn are going to try to attend. It is
an all day event.
· Jackson reported about his meeting with Mrs. Budd from the "Who
Cares Club" at the Middle School. They meet weekly, they
would love to be more involved with different events around the
village. They asked that someone come and talk to the group.
They would love to have some involvement with the Town/Village Earth Day
event on April 26.
· Spring Planting Day: Spring planting day is scheduled
tentatively for Saturday, April 26 - the same day as the Earth Day
event. We are planning on planting 10 trees. It was
suggested that we plant a tree in honor of Alex Gravino, the freshman
girl who died in the automobile accident last month. Village Green
agreed that it was appropriate. Evelyn will talk to Frank for
school board involvement.

o Trail dedication to Ruth Ojay (sp?)

o Town and village planting AND THEN
o Earth Day exhibits at Town Hall

· Tree Grates - Brent asked Jen to research more information about the
plastic tree grates. Jen will also research matching benches and
trash receptacles, and get him information ASAP.
