Treasurer's Report
Evelyn gave the treasurer's report.
VG account balance as of October= $2704.
We made $600+ from the bakeless bake sale.
Currently, the VG account balance was reported as: $2728, which
shows a discrepancy. Brent
will be checking with Cindy regarding the different line items to
determine what our account balance is.
OLD BUSINESS:
DOT planting: Brenda
reviewed the DOT tree planting list. We are scheduled to receive 55 trees. So far, we have up to 47 accepted for planting (with
permissions received from home/business owners).
We still need to get a few more “Yes”s. The Engineer wants to meet with VG to look over the
plan. Brent is able to meet
next week. Brenda will check with engineer for availability.
The planting will occur in March/April.
NEW BUSINESS:
Spring Planting – Are we having one?
The question was raised since the DOT is planting 55 new trees
along state routes within the village this spring.
However, we had several requests for trees.
We received requests from: 5 Park st for 1-2 trees, and to
replace one at 57 Fraleigh. There
was also a discussion about planting 2-3 trees at the house on the
corner of Church/Fraleigh. We
need to determine if the DOT will be mulching the newly planted trees,
otherwise, we may be mulching rather than planting.
If the DOT will be doing the mulching, then we could plant.
Brenda to follow up with DOT.
Tree Removals – tree removals have not occurred yet this
spring. The list includes:
Lutheran church (2), 57 Fraleigh (1), Memorial Park (1), Town
Hall (3 on South Side), Merritt Bookstore (1).
Tree Inventory – it is time to reinventory our trees.
To re-do the entire village would be quite intensive, so it was
decided to break the village into 5 zones, and tackle a zone a year.
There is availability to have GIS for mapping of trees.
Brenda to determine feasibility of using GIS.
Brenda just worked with the Village of Rhinebeck with their Tree
Inventory.
ZONE GRID:
The decision was made to begin this year with ZONE 1 –
the southeast quadrant of the village.
More information to come.
Earth Day: The
Town is planning an Earth Day celebration for April 26th.
If we plant, it will probably also be that day to coincide with
the Earth Day/Arbor Day celebrations.
Morgan’s Way: The
committee was able to take a look at the proposed tree planting plan for
the complex on Morgan’s Way. Concerns
were voiced about planting plan.
Motion to Close Meeting:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm
Next Meeting:
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 20,2008 at
7:00 PM at the Village Building.
