Open the Meeting 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm

Minutes of Last Meeting

The minutes from the last meeting were approved.

Treasurer's Report 

Evelyn gave the treasurer's report.  VG account = $2704, General Fund = $2995 = total $5699

OLD BUSINESS:

Planting Day: Planting day will be a cooperative event between the Village and the Town.  The Village will plant 13 trees.  The Town will plant 10.  Volunteers will meet at the Town Hall at 8:30 on Nov 3rd for coffee and donuts.  Planting to start at 9:00.  Lunch will follow.  It was suggested to contact Lou Sebesta from DEC to see if he would do a Pruning workshop following the planting.  Brenda will contact him.   The trees will be delivered on Monday, Oct 29th.  Brenda to contact the nursery again because some items were missing on confirmation.  Jen to do press releases to local newspapers.  Jean will contact Nancy Guski from the Town to work on Lunch Details and will contact Linda K. to secure the Elmendorff for Lunch.  Jean will do the tags for the trees.  Evelyn will prepare a flyer for home owners about watering their new trees this fall.

DOT Main Street Tree Planting Program - The diagrammatic plans for the street tree plantings in the Village and Town along the state routes was received by the DOT and circulated. 

DEC Grant - The grant is good until 2009.  We will submit receipts for payment from the grant following the Fall Planting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Flag Pole - Brent reports that the flag pole is in the process of being ordered.

Tree List - Brenda circulated a list of "Recommended Urban Trees for the Mid-Lower Hudson Valley - DEC Region 3.   This is a work in progress, and has been prepared by Lou Sebesta.

Tree Grates - Jen circulated information about a poly-grate that is available that is lower cost, attractive and ADA accessible.  The committee will look into this and other grate options more at a later date.

Brent read a memo that he wrote addressed to the VG committee - regarding the pruning of trees along Church St, alternative funding mechanisms researched for maintenance of trees, and the development of the comprehensive village plan to be prepared for trees in the village.  This comprehensive plan will be used in conjunction with the Village's sidewalk plan.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Village Building.
