Evelyn Krueger, Jen Melitski, Brenda Cagle, Jean Duntz, Brent Kovalchik, Jan Schiff Open the Meeting The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm Minutes of Last Meeting The minutes from the last meeting were approved. Treasurer's Report No treasurer's report was available OLD BUSINESS: Hardscrabble Day: It was decided that Village Green would not participate in Hardscrabble Day this year. Planting Day: There are several trees that Village Green has planted that have died that are on the priority list for replacement. We will be receiving credit from the nursery for many of the Hawthorne's that have been planted. Evelyn and Brent suggested taking a walk-through of Park Avenue to look at possible planting sites. More discussion at the next meeting. DOT Main Street Tree Planting Program - Brenda has met with the landscape architect 2x. Additionally, Brenda, Brent Kovalchik and Sue Crane (from the Town) have met with the architect to create a plan for the planting. The plan is for 50-55 trees (3" caliper trees) to be planted in the Spring 2008 from the IGA in the Village south on Route 9 to Rokeby Road in the Town of Red Hook. The architect will be creating a visual plan for the location of the trees to show the committee soon. The architect had some concerns about some of the curbs in the village. Brent addressed the concerns with the committee. There was some discussion about installing low tree grates or barriers to protect trees, but not to create a hazard that would cause someone to trip when walking by a tree. The committee will investigate some of the options available. Further, many permission forms will need to be completed for those trees that will be planted on private property or by neighboring owners. DEC Grant - no discussion at this meeting. More discussion at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Flag Pole - Village Green has the "Tree City USA" flag to fly from a flagpole. Prior to the renovations of the Village Building, Village Green was told that there would be a flag pole to display the flag. Brent will check into this. Water Bills - Village water bills are ready to go out in the mail. Evelyn and Brenda are going to see if they want to include something in this water bill this time about tree maintenance/care or mulch information. Motion to Close Meeting The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the temporary Village Building.
