Minutes of Last Meeting
The minutes from the last meeting were not
reviewed.
Old Business:
Grant Application -the committee is
waiting to hear about the status of the grant application. We should
hear by the end of February.
Treasurers Report -No treasurers
report was available at the meeting. Evelyn will have an updated report at
the next meeting.
Website - the website is currently
up to date.
New Business:
Tree pruning/maintenance - Dave had received an estimate from Integral for tree
pruning in Abrahams Park that Harold Fell requested. The estimate was $2555.00.
One tree requires cabling which the village attorney has advised
Village Green not to do. The
matter was tabled until Dave discusses the work further with Harold and
Integral.
Brenda gave an update on the tree maintenance being
performed. Central Hudson has
completed their work under wires. They
removed 5 trees. Integral has
also completed their work. Greenspace
Enterprises is finishing their removals/pruning.
Approximately 15 trees will have been removed upon completion of all
maintenance.
Arbor Day Celebration - The
dinner at the Elmendorph, discussed at the last meeting, was postponed. The
time around Arbor Day is very busy, and it was decided that another time of
year would be a better time for a social gathering.
The Arbor Day celebration will consist
of the spring planting, the commemorative tree planting, and possibly an
outreach event sponsored by Greenspace Enterprises. They offered to
participate in the celebration and suggested a demo and/or tree planting at
Mill Road School. Brenda will contact the Town and the Village of Tivoli to
encourage a townwide celebration.
Fundraising - Evelyn prepared an insert for the next water bill for the
Bakeless Bake Sale fundraiser. Committee
members approved the insert.
Spring
Planting - Spring planting was discussed. About
15 replacement trees, in addition to new trees, will be planted.
The committee will walk around the area of East Market and Thompson
Streets to decide where the new plantings should go.
Committee members will meet on March 18 at Billies Restaurant at 9am,
for those wishing to eat breakfast beforehand, or 10 am for those not
wishing to have breakfast.
Commemorative
Tree - Evelyn announced that a donation was received for a commemorative
tree for Caroline Rider's mother. Brenda will check with Harold Fell about
planting the tree in Abrahams Park. We will try to plant this tree on the
Friday evening before Planting Day.
Other
- Brenda passed around pictures of a commemorative tree park
in China. She and Dave will
discuss with the mayor future plans for Memorial Park with respect to trees.
Several attendees commented on the small size of the
tree pits installed at CVS. Pits
were to be four feet by four feet, but are much smaller. Dave and Evelyn will pursue this matter.
