Tuesday, October 19, 2004 Minutes

Attendees: Brenda Cagle, Mark Meritt, Catherine Dickert, Jean Duntz, Linda Anderson, Harold Fell

Open the Meeting

  • The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by Brenda Cagle.

Minutes of Last Meeting

  • The minutes from the July 20 and August 24, and September 21, 2004 meetings were reviewed and approved.

Greens Committee (Brenda):

  • Old Business:
    • Adams is providing 2 replacement trees.
    • Integral Tree and Landscaping will begin their tree maintenance in November.  They have already been working with the highway department on tree problems.
  • New Business:
    • The fall planting will take place on Saturday, October 30th.  Volunteers will meet at 9am in Abraham's Park to plant the trees that were dedicated.  Those who dedicated the trees will be invited to attend the tree planting and to say a few words about the person(s) being honored.  There will be a potluck lunch after the tree planting.
    • Brenda attended the tree inventory class in Amenia.
    • The path in Abraham's Park has been paved.

Communications Committee (Mark Meritt):

  • Old Business:
    • None.
  • New Business:
    • The Village Board needs to appoint a new officer who will chair the Communications Committee.  Christina Staubi will handle the website responsibilities.  Other responsibilities include e-mailing and some general outreach activities.

Fundraising Committee (Evelyn Krueger):

  • New Business:
    • There are 12 debits from our account to 12 people and we are unsure why.  Although there are 3 deposits that are correct in our general records, 1 deposit is missing from our account.  Evelyn will investigate.
    • We are expecting a letter from a grant opportunity to arrive at the village building.  We expect that it will be a denial of funding.
  • Old Business:
    • There is $5843.75 in the Village Green account.
    • There is $3920.00 in the village budget for the Village Green.
    • There is $13,500.00 in the village tree removal budget.

Additional Business

  • Catherine will look into getting aerial photos for the village to see if we can use them to help plan for tree plantings.
  • The Village Green meeting will continue to be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
  • A discussion occurred about whether officers should continue to chair committees.  People brainstormed on how to increase active membership.  Mark suggested that committee meetings be held outside the monthly general meeting, as committee meetings are where most of the work gets done.  It was agreed that officers should remain committee chairs.

Motion to Close Meeting

  • The meeting was adjourned at 8:03 p.m.

Next Meeting

  • Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 16th, at 7:00 p.m. in the village hall.
