Meetings

Tuesday, August 24, 2004 Meeting Minutes

Attendees: David Seymour, Brenda Cagle, Mark Meritt, Christina Staubi, Jan Schiff, Catherine Dichert, Harold Fell

Open the Meeting

  • David opened the meeting at 7:03 p.m.

Minutes of Last Meeting

  • The minutes from the July 20, 2004, meeting were not discussed.

Greens Committee (Brenda):

  • Old Business:
    • Brenda has been working with Dan Streib to reconcile his list of 21 trees to be cut down with the tree inventory database.  They disagree on about 8 trees, 9 trees were included in our bid for maintenance, and 4 are under 3-phase wires so Brenda is working with Central Hudson to see if they will take care of them.  Brenda will continue to work with Dan.
    • Brenda is continuing to work with Joe Kistner of Central Hudson regarding the list of trees under 3-phase wires as well as the list of trees under service wires.
    • We reviewed the bids received from Integral and Green Space.  David will talk with the mayor to get his approval on spending the money, and then David and Brenda will go over the numbers again.
  • New Business:
    • Brenda needs to talk with Dan to ensure that the trees we want to cut down are within the village right-of-way.  Some may be the responsibility of the state or county and we should investigate having them take care of them.
    • A commemorative tree was donated in memory of Claire Carr, and was supposed to be planted at the Elmendorf.  However, they will begin construction of their carriage barn shortly, so it does not make sense to plant this tree there at this time.  Brenda will talk with the person who donated the tree to see if it is acceptable to plant the tree in Abraham's Park.

Communications Committee (Mark Meritt):

  • Nothing new to report.

Fundraising Committee (David Seymour):

  • Old Business:
    • We missed out on the DEC grant due to insufficient information in our application.
    • We should hear about the other grant before the end of September.
    • We have $5324.98 in our Village Green fund and $4000.00 in the village budget.

Additional Business

  • Harold Fell attended the meeting:
    • Someone would like to plant a commemorative tree in Abraham's Park, and Harold needs a list of appropriate trees that can be planted.  David gave Harold a book that lists these trees.
    • Harold requested that the dead cedar tree be removed from the park and replaced with a shade tree.

Motion to Close Meeting

  • Chris made a motion to close the meeting at 7:53.  David seconded the motion.

Next Meeting

  • Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 21st, at 7:00 p.m. in the village hall.
