Open the Meeting

  • David opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Minutes of Last Meeting

  • The minutes from the June 15, 2004, meeting were accepted with no changes required.

Greens Committee (Brenda):

  • Old Business:
    • The citizen tree pruning workshop, led by Lou Sebesta, was held on June 15, 2004.  It was attended by 12 people.
    • Brenda attended the Releaf Conference and gave our Power Point presentation.  The conference was attended by about 150 people.
  • New Business:
    • A number of trees that were planted last year need to be pruned by volunteers who attended the tree pruning workshop.  Brenda will organize a workday (or workdays) to prune these trees, as well as mulch some trees and pull out a dead tree.
    • We reviewed 2 bids that we received for the tree maintenance required in the village.  These bids were received from Integral Tree and Landscape, and Green Space Enterprises.  More information is required before any decisions can be made.  Brenda will follow up with the companies and report back to the Village Green Committee.
    • Dan Streib gave Brenda a list of 21 trees that need to be removed in the village.  Unfortunately, most of these trees do not match the information that we have in our tree inventory database.  Brenda will follow up with Dan.
    • Brenda gave Joe Kistner (of Central Hudson) a list of trees that are located under 3 phase wires.  He is also requesting a list of trees that are under service wires.  Brenda will follow up with Joe.
    • The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is offering a grant of between $3,500-$10,000.  Brenda is working with Evelyn to apply for this grant.  They will try to coordinate with the town in an effort to improve our chances of receiving it.  The deadline for the grant is August 16th.

Communications Committee (Mark Meritt):

  • Nothing new to report.

Fundraising Committee (David Seymour):

  • Old Business:
    • We continue to receive donations from the Bakeless Bake Sale.

Additional Business

  • None.

Motion to Close Meeting

  • Mark made a motion to close the meeting at 7:47.  Christina seconded the motion.

Next Meeting

  • Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 17th, at 7:00 p.m. in the village hall.
