Greens Committee (Brenda Cagle):

  • All of the trees in Memorial Park and Abraham's Park have been pruned.  Volunteers may want to help with some minor shaping that is still left to be done.
  • Franceska requested that people give her comments on the letter that she wrote to the legislature on behalf of the Village Green Committee.  Please give her comments as soon as possible.
  • The spring planting will take place on Saturday.  Details are as follows:
    • The planting will serve as our Arbor Day observance.
    • Brenda and Karen Cadorette are working to get the tree pledges signed before the planting.
    • Karen will get the trees on Thursday.
    • We will meet at the Elmendorf on Saturday at 9 a.m. and plant the commemorative tree at that time.
    • We will break into groups to plant the remaining 12 bareroot trees.
    • David will work with Dan Streib to ensure that the holes are dug approximately 3 feet in diameter and no more than 1 foot deep.
    • Top soil is available at the village garage.
    • David has permission to use the water truck.
    • Gaters will be available for the trees.
    • The "Who Cares" club will RSVP to Brenda tomorrow and let her know if they plant o help.
    • Lunch will be provided at the Elmendorf around noon by Hannaford.  Evelyn will work with Hannaford to plan for approximately 20 people.
  • The next task for the Greens Committee is to start the 2004 Working Plan.

Communications Committee (Mark Meritt via note):

  • Kickoff meeting on April 2nd went well, although attendance was a little light due to a conflicting fundraiser at the fire house.  Jean is looking for copy of the article that the Register Star published about the event.
  • Mark now has the password for the website and can make updates to it at any time.  As a result, we will make the agendas and to-do list available on the website again.
  • Mark sent out a press release today to announce the Forestry Management Plan as well as the upcoming spring planting and Arbor Day observance.
  • Mark has created a comprehensive, integrated database that contains information about all relevant people other than donors.  Evelyn needs to decide if her donor database should be integrated with this database.
  • Evelyn requested that people cut out articles about the Village Green when they see them and give them to her.  She needs original copies of articles to submit to Tree City USA at the end of the year.

Fundraising Committee (Evelyn Krueger):

  • Financial status:
    • Our Village Green fund totals $5324.98.
    • Our village budget fund totals approximately $400.00.
  • The village received a grant application from the 2004 Hudson River Estuary Grants Program.  David asked Evelyn to look at it and determine whether anything would apply to the Village Green Committee.

Additional Business

  • None.

Motion to Close Meeting

  • Christina Staubi made a motion to close the meeting at 7:45 p.m. David seconded the motion.
