TREE CITY
USA FOR 6th STRAIGHT YEAR!
2008 Red
Hook receives trees from the NYS DOT "Annual Landscape Development
Contract" - The
Village of Red Hook and the Town of Red Hook received 55 trees along
state routes as a part of the NYS DOT "Annual Landscape Development
Contract". As a part of this program, the DOT planted almost
$25,000 worth of trees and will maintain these trees for a year. Red

Arbor Day/Spring Planting Day 2007 - A memorial tree was
planted in honor of Tim Thayer, longtime Village Board members. Dick
and Carlene Baright received the "Friends of Village Green"
award. Volunteers planted 23 trees throughout the village and then met
for lunch at the Elmendorff. See photos from the event

Planting Day 2007 - Fall
planting day was a collaborative effort between the Village of Red
Hook's Village Green and the Town of Red Hook's tree
committee.

The
Village Green receives $7500 State Grant
The Village of Red Hook has received a grant from the New York State
Department of Environmental Conservation's Urban and Community
Forestry Program for tree planting. Approval was received for the
maximum award of $7500. |
Spring
Planting Day 2006 - Village Green held the annual Spring Planting
Day. Many volunteers came out to help plant trees throughout the
village and to participate in a commemorative tree planting. Fall Planting Day 2006 -

Day Parade - Village Green volunteers marched in the Tivoli Day parade

Year in Review
April 30, 2005 – Arbor Day Celebration
On Saturday, April 30th, in observance of Arbor Day, members of the Village Green
and many volunteers planted 11 new trees
throughout the village. See pictures from
the event.The 4H group, "Busy-Buddies", and their leader, Victoria Rolfe,
did a fine job of mulching the trees for us on Sunday, May 1st.
For their caring and generosity, we would like to thank Greenspace Enterprises and Integral
Tree and Landscape for volunteering to help
with the planting, Tiberio's IGA for providing lunch to the hard-working group, and the
Friends of Elmendorph, Inc. for let us use the Elmendorph Inn for our lunch. We especially
would like to thank the hard-working Dan Streib for digging all of the holes for the trees!
Also, in observance of Arbor Day, the Village Green donated and planted a tree in the Town of Red Hook
(see picture) to help the town get started with their own tree program.
September
10, 2005 - Hardscrabble Day
On Saturday, September 10th, Village Green participated in Hardscrabble
Days. The committee set up a booth outside of the Village building
and provided pH soil testing to anyone who may be interested in
finding out about the levels in their soil. Members of the Village Green
committee also marched in the parade dressed as trees. See

November 5, 2005 - Annual Fall Planting Day
On Saturday, November 5th, members of the Village Green and many volunteers
participated in the Annual Fall Planting Day. 15 new trees were
planted in the Village in addition to about 200 spring flower bulbs.
